NDIS – We want you to be heard

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Review is putting people with disability back at the centre of the NDIS.

The Review submission process is based around co-design and is fully accessible so all people with disability can take part and have their say, including online, on the phone, via video or by writing in.

The Independent Review Panel has released their first review paper outlining their approach and inviting the disability community to have their say.

The Review Panel will embark on an engagement process over the next 12 months which will include community consultation, collaboration with stakeholders to improve the scheme before making recommendations and committing to an action plan.

Over the next six weeks the Review Panel is focusing on listening to and understanding your experiences and concerns. It wants to hear from those with disability, carers and providers – about your experiences and to identify the gaps and areas where the NDIS can be improved.

Minister for the National Disability Insurance Scheme, the Hon. Bill Shorten MP, said the Review is committed to making sure the engagement is inclusive, with many options available for participants to have their voices heard.

“The independent Review will not start from scratch. People and organisations who have made prior submissions in earlier reviews should have confidence their experiences will be taken into account,” Minister Shorten said.

“The independent review panel have demonstrated how eager they are for early engagement and made their intent clear to seek a diverse range of views.

“This Review will strengthen the NDIS and ensure the scheme is working effectively to deliver services and supports to people with disability.

“I encourage anyone with a stake in the scheme to make a submission.”

Minister Shorten announced the Review last month committing to it with all state and territory governments as part of a shared responsibility for the NDIS. NDIS stakeholders are invited to have your say in a variety of ways in response to this first review paper.

  • Write a submission

  • Fill in a set of questions online

  • Submit a video or audio response

  • Speak on the telephone
