Today, pioneer of social procurement in Victoria, the Honourable Wade Noonan announced he will retire from the Jobsbank Board, stepping down from his role as Chair. Under Noonan’s leadership, Jobsbank has made significant strides to develop hiring and buying with purpose in Victorian workplaces. In this time, the organisation has grown from a passionate start-up to a strategic, operational model that supports businesses to embed social procurement and create employment opportunities for Victorians with diverse backgrounds and experiences.
In announcing his decision “to hand the baton on”, Noonan pointed to his confidence in CEO Dr Karina Davis and the dedication of the current board to take Jobsbank into the next phase. Jobsbank CEO Dr Karina Davis thanked Noonan for his extraordinary service, and leadership and support while she settled in the role. “Wade is a pioneer and an inspirational leader, a passionate advocate of inclusive employment. He has been instrumental in the launch of the Social Procurement Framework and the establishment of an ecosystem that works for a fairer and more equitable Victoria - with jobs for all. On behalf of all the staff and all those who’ve worked with him over the years, we thank him for his vision and dedication.” Jobsbank Acting Chair Sam Sondhi said, “The Board wishes to formally extend its deepest gratitude to Wade for his passion, unwavering commitment and amazing contribution to Jobsbank, notwithstanding the demands of his career and wishes him every success for the future.” Wade Noonan was in Victorian politics for over a decade, at a time of great change with record population and jobs growth. He served as the Minister for Police and Corrections and the Minister for Industry, Employment and Resources in the first term of the Andrews Government.
