Aussies urged to run, walk, cycle or roll their way to 100k this April to support Vision Australia
An active April could have more benefits than just feeling healthy, with Australians encouraged to join Vision Australia’s annual 100K Your Way movement.
100k Your Way participants are encouraged to run, walk, cycle or roll 100 kilometres throughout the month while raising much needed funds to support the work of Vision Australia.
“Each year Vision Australia supports more than 35,000 people who are blind or have low vision to be active and independent members of the community,” Vision Australia CEO Ron Hooton said.
“100k Your Way is a great way for people across Australia to get behind the work we do. We had amazing support for last year’s 100k Your Way which raised more than $70,000 and we’re hoping to surpass that this year.”
With 100k Your Way all about being active, a key beneficiary of funds raised through the appeal is Vision Australia’s orientation and mobility services.
“One of the many vital services we provide people who are blind or have low vision is orientation and mobility training, which helps equip them with the skills and confidence to travel independently, whether that’s for work, education or leisure,” Ron said.
“From teaching people how to use white canes, to supporting people to navigate public transport, or preparing them to be matched with a Seeing Eye Dog, our orientation and mobility specialists, the work our orientation and mobility specialists perform with our clients everyday is vital.”
Vision Australia’s 100k Your Way is proudly supported by BROOKS®, while FOX FOOTY’S Sarah Jones is the official 100k Your Way ambassador.
