Distinguished former public servant to join NDIA board

The Australian Government has today announced the appointment of Dr Ian James Watt AC to the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) Board.

Minister for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Bill Shorten said Dr Watt would bring significant experience from a long and rich career in the public service, including posts at the highest levels.

“Dr Watt has had a decorated career in the public service and I am so pleased to welcome him to the NDIA Board,” Minister Shorten said.

“Dr Watt is an esteemed leader, having served as the Secretary of multiple federal government agencies, including Prime Minister and Cabinet, Finance, Defence, and Communications.

“His leadership and expertise in public administration will be a significant asset in shaping the strategic direction of the NDIA, and I look forward to working with him and the rest of the Board.”

The NDIA Board consists of a Chair and up to 11 other members. Appointments of the Chair and Board Members are made under the National Disability Insurance Scheme Act 2013 (the NDIS Act) by the Minister for the NDIS in consultation with all Australian state and territories.

Board members are appointed on a part-time basis for terms of up to 3 years.
