Beijing 2022 Para ice hockey competition schedule announced

The Para ice hockey competition schedule has been set for the Beijing 2022 Paralympic Winter Games, with 20 games to be played within a nine-day span. All games will be played at the National Indoor Stadium.

The eight participating teams will be separated into two groups, with Group A featuring the top-four ranked teams in the world and Group B including the next set of four.

Group A includes No. 1 USA, No. 2 Canada, No. 3 RPC and No. 4 Korea. Group B consists of No. 5 Czech Republic, No. 6 Italy, No. 7 Slovakia and No. 8 China.

The top two finishers in Group A will automatically advance to the semi-finals, while the top two finishers in Group B will challenge the bottom two finishers in Group A for the other semi-final spots.

The opening day of the competition on 5 March will feature two of the most anticipated preliminary round matchups — Paralympic and world champions No. 1 USA vs. Paralympic and world silver medallists No. 2 Canada in the infamous North American rivalry, and Paralympic debutants No. 7 Slovakia vs. No. 8 China, the latter of which will be playing on its home ice.

The tournament will conclude with the bronze-medal game on 12 March followed by the gold-medal game on 13 March.
